AAIDD is a membership organization, governed by a Board of Directors who are elected by the membership. The geographical components of the Association are:
Chapters
The purpose of Chapters is to promote the interests of the Association and the Association’s activities. A Chapter may also include in its mission other important elements that demonstrate its unique contributions and aspirations related to the overall goals of the Association.
Regions
The purpose of Regions is to coordinate geographic activities of the Association and to promote the interests of the Association and the Association’s activities.
The Assembly of Regions
The Assembly meets at least annually (typically at the Association's annual meeting), responds to requests from the Board, serve in an advisory capacity to the Board, and may make recommendations to the Board.
Throughout North America, AAIDD members automatically become members of the Chapter and Region in which they are located. Some, but not all Chapters and Regions have websites. Click on their links for more information:
