It is well-known that positive behavior support works to reduce challenging behavior exhibited by people with developmental disabilities. The competency-based PBSTC trains supervisors and direct support staff to implement positive behavior support strategies. The Curriculum is proven to foster a respectful and caring work environment in agencies serving people with developmental disabilities.
Currently AAIDD offers Train-the-Trainer as well as training programs for direct support staff by author Dennis H. Reid. Dr. Reid has over 30 years of experience supporting people with developmental disabilities in service settings.

This popular planning tool has revolutionized the world of developmental disability services. If there is one lesson learned since its launch in 2004, it is the critical necessity to train professionals in properly administering SIS so that the assessment scores truly reflect the support needs of people with disabilities. Since support services and financial planning decisions are linked to SIS scores, AAIDD has developed a robust, multi-tiered training program designed to develop reliable SIS interviewers and trainers.
